Is the strength of carbon steel pipe is not high?

    I believe there are many people thought the strength of carbon steel pipe is low. Yes, if the carbon mass fraction is beyond 1%, the strength of carbon steel pipe will decrease. But if the carbon mass fraction in the range of 0.05%-0.1%, the strength will increase with the carbon mass fraction, and it will also affect the hardness, ductility, toughness and weld-ability. Generally, we divide the carbon steel(carbon mass fraction in the range of 0.05%-0.1%) into low-carbon steel (WC ≤ 0.25%), medium carbon steel (WC0.25% -0.6%) and high-carbon steel (WC> 0.6%).

    The low-carbon steel is known as mild steel, is widely used for engineering, machinery and architecture, such as bridges, buildings and embankments.

    The medium-carbon steel is mainly used for manufacture the active parts that with high strength, such as air compressor, pump valve, impeller of steam turbine and shafts, worms, gears of heavy machine and etc.

    The high-carbon steel is a kind of high-quality carbon structural steel, is widely used for mold manufacturer. The most common use of seamless steel pipe that made with this kind of high carbon steel is 45 seamless carbon steel pipe.
