What is the API 5L standard pipeline?
API 5L? What is this? I guess many people like me will ask what that means when we know the API 5L first time. Today, Xinyue Steel Pipe sharing what is API 5L pipeline.
API 5L is a standard of pipeline that set up by American Petroleum Institute, if you want to use the 5L monogram, you must to apply for certification to the American Petroleum Institute headquarters, and the pipelines at this standard will print this logo if you got the approval. API 5L standard covers seamless steel pipeline and welded steel pipeline, which pipeline mainly use for conveying the oil, water, gas, and other fluids in the natural gas and oil industries. The API 5L standard not only use for pipelines, but also including steel material grade, such as GR.B,X42 ,X46,52,X56,X60,X65,X70 and etc.
API 5L pipeline is preferred in long pipelines due to its inexpensiveness, so it is widely used in gas, water and oil transportation, and it can resist to crack propagation, so it used to pipeline steel, line pipe and sour service line pipes.
